The Ohio Program accepts applications any time of year. However, agriculture is very seasonal. The best time to apply is during August-February so your internship can start in January-May. The January-May period is when at least 80% of our internships start. You can read more on our enquiry page.

This is a research placement. Interns are involved in research on fruit trees, mainly apples. Relevant education required. Excellent placement in a very nice location. Very interesting, career-building internship for people interested in fruit production, harvest, storage and lab work.
We may have at least 6-7 spots for this internship. We have had only excellent feedback from interns at this location in previous years. We are recruiting now.
111 Garden Center OH 3 March Winter
Excellent garden center in Columbus, Ohio. Interns (depending on their qualifications) will have excellent experience in sales, merchandising, deliveries, customer service, plant production and nursery management. Interns should have some knowledge about ornamental trees and shrubs. Some related experience would be very helpful.
This garden center is located very close to our Program office. There is on-site housing, just walking distance. This internship is not for everyone - you have to be productive, efficient and hard-working.
117 Garden Park Landscaping NY 3 March Fall
Botanical Garden placement in New York. This placement requires some experience with ornamental trees and shrubs. Experience in a public gardening will be very helpful. Very interesting, enjoyable internship.
Applicants must be very social, friendly and easy to get along with. There is a very good housing set up on site. All five interns will stay together, share two bathrooms and a kitchen. There will be interns from many different countries and cultures, you must be able to tolerate the customs of other nationalities.
118 Golf Club CO 4 April October
This is a short term internship for applicants with genuine interest in turf grass (golf courses). Very demanding experience but a great way to start career in the turf industry. One of the very few top class golf courses willing to accept interns with less experience.
Be ready for a challenge. You will wake up at 3-4 am. The weather is not always great but there is always much to do. You may have to buy a car after about a month or so, maybe you will share it with other interns. This place is in one of the most beautiful places in the USA. You will meet many young people from all over the world. This is a great experience for the right person, something you will never forget.
120 Greenhouse OH 1 March for 12 months
Excellent greenhouse operation in Ohio. This is a very good internship for the best applicant. You have to show that you have very serious interest in ornamental plants production. Some past experience required. Good English required.
Males only because of the housing situation. Excellent housing and transportation is provided by the host.
126 Crop farms ND, MN, MT 15 April November
Placements with large crop farms growing Corn, Canola, Wheat, Sugar Beet. Larger, modern machinery.
Applicants must be experienced and skilled with operating heavy agricultural machinery, very motivated, ready for challenge, ready for long days during the harvest season,excellent team-player, have good English skills and a driving license.
129 Horse Farm KY 2 anytime for 12 months
One of the leading thoroughbred horse breeder in the country. Very rewarding internship for a person that is passionate about horses.
Good housing provided. Must have at least a year of documented experience with horses. We have had many very happy students at this placement in the past.
131 Nursery CA 1 February for 12 months
Medium size nursery - ornamental trees and shrubs. You will have much interaction with the owner who will become your mentor. You will have to be dedicated and care about the business.
Apply if you are genuinely interested in nursery operation. Some previous experience/education in trees and shrub production required. Very satisfying internship for the right person.
132 Botanical Garden OH 2 February for 12 months
"Plant Record Internship" in a very well-recognized Arboretum. You will evaluate condition of garden plants, locate plantings, enter data in computer system, keep records and collect herbarium specimens from plants in the collection. You should have a good horticultural background and good plant identification skills. This is a serious internship for a person seriously interested in public gardening. The accommodation is provided on-site, you will share house with interns from the US and other countries.
134 Greenhouse NY 2 anytime for 12 months
This is a very modern tomato greenhouse. Nearly all stages of production are automated. Good placement for people interested in this type of production.
Good housing is provided. The internship may be somewhat repetitive because of mechanization of most tasks.
135 Garden/Park/Landscaping OH 2 March for 9 months
Nice botanical garden in Ohio. Most of the time you would spend in garden maintenance, planting, trimming, mulching and more. There will be educational courses and trips. Great internship for someone that loves nature and horticulture.
This park is located in urban area. Housing on site. You must have related education and some experience to apply.
136 Family Farm WI 2 May November
This family farm operates on about 50 acres and grow a large variety of fruits and berries, also some vegetables and flowers. They sell directly to customers. You would be involved in production but maybe also sales.
Notice this placement is relatively short-term. There is some chance for a transfer/secondary placement upon completion of this internship but this cannot be guaranteed.
